Russell has more than 35 years’ experience as a hydrogeologist with extensive Public and Private sector knowledge in water resources management, water sensitive urban design and conjunctive water use.
Russell is one of the leading technical experts globally in the field of managed aquifer recharge (MAR) including aquifer storage and recovery (ASR) and has worked on over 50 MAR/ASR projects across Australia and New Zealand for local government, industry, and mining. He possesses considerable practical experience in the investigation, economics, design, delivery, and rehabilitation of these complex systems. He is routinely requested to present technical workshops and seminars in national and international forums on the topic of MAR and clogging management.
Dr EC “Ricky” Murray
Dr Murray is a hydrogeologist with extensive experience in groundwater exploration, resource assessments and management. One of his main focuses is on optimising groundwater supply schemes by ensuring all boreholes are pumped optimally, by training local operators and by integrating groundwater with surface water schemes. To this end he developed Department of Water Affairs’ artificial recharge strategy and has designed a number of integrated water supply schemes. His specific areas of expertise lie in borehole siting (including remote sensing, geological mapping and geophysics), aquifer and borehole yield assessments, groundwater management systems, artificial recharge or Managed Aquifer Recharge, groundwater chemistry, water related strategy and policy development, groundwater law and education.
